20-01-2014 Software release version 1.8.22

Postby admin » Mon Jan 20, 2014 12:16 pm

A new software update is now available!

We have now done some significant changes to the GPS filtering. As a result we are seeing:

Improved GPS accuracy.
New smoother tracking.
More accurate location data.
This release focuses also on the GPS stability.

Several improvements have been made to lower the risk of GPS crashes and inconsistent behaviors in the area of time-to-first-fix and bad GPS conditions.

We are looking forward to hear your comments.

Thanks
the Leikr Team

While my run, GPS start-up and tracking started out well, they did not end up well

I ran 31,401.74 mi and burned 11340300 kcal

@jedjunk, @hutson seem's you made a travel to +0°0'0.00", +0°0'0.00", at least you now know, how fare away your from this point ;-)

Didn't see to much improvment either. When gps data is preloaded it work's fine, but this is true since some time now. You clearly see, that espacially on the way back the track is quite off from where i run.

I had a rather positive experience with the new software. Did the software update, powered completely off and on and when out for a run. Started of with 7 satellites, finished with 6, got no idea how this was during the run as I did some tempo's. I think the results are very good as of distance as there is a 0,9% difference. Which by the way does not mean that the Leikr is 0,9% off because I would not claim that the Garmin is 100% correct.

As I am always reading about tracks being jaggery, therefore I looked in detail to the routes on Endomondo and on the Garmin site and noticed that both watches have the same 'hick-ups'. So I would say that has something to do with satellite reception and not with the watch itself.

The results:

Garmin Forerunner 620: 14,27km
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/433285893

Leikr: 14,40km
http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/288574906/4720575

Keep up the good work. With these differences I can and will use the Leikr.

Any idea, when you will come with the bugfix? I really want to go for a ruun soon, but it is not motivating not having the Watch with me.

Installed. power cycled, resynced, took it out for a comparison with my Forerunner 620. This is the closest distance I've ever seen compared with another device, barely 1% difference. The wiggling in the route is much reduced - it's pretty clear where I've crossed the road, for instance. Think this is a real improvement, if you can stop it nipping off to the Gulf of Guinea all the time :)
