I think the biggest problem with the GPS (in)accuracy, is that the altitude measurements are way off. On pretty much all my runs, it says that I have run several hundred meters in altitude meters alone. This would explain why the Leikr distance is always longer than the "real" distance (at least according to my tests).

So, two suggestions (both of which I think should be followed):
1. The ability to turn altitude measurement off.
2. Improvement of the altitude measurement.

Dear Skywalker,
we are aware that the altitude measurements are not always ok and rather inaccurate. However that does not influence distance measurements. The 3rd coordinate is not part of the measuring equation.
We are trying to improve the accuracy and we appreciate your feedback.

The altitude measurements are so bad for me i would rather have the option to disable them than letting them taint my workouts.
Altitudes most often differs by 100m on my runs and it's not a linear difference but rather all over the place.
A hill with 5m of ascension can get interpreted as 50m and other largely random numbers.

The problem may be that i'm to far up scandinavia (60 degrees north) to get a proper satellite connection that gets reliable altitude data.

One solution is to get elevation data from a third party source.
Please look into adding that as an option so the people who don't have problems can use the GPS elevation and us who cant can use the third party data.

Dear Kiske,
altitude readings from the GPS connection are not always accurate, especially at your latitude.
However, to your suggestion, STRAVA already overlays altitude readings they get from maps data. That makes it very accurate.

The workout tracking on the map shows some wavering and subsequently the distance logged is longer.
To increase the GPS accuracy, please make sure you follow the procedure explained with the Topic “Time to first fix”
