usage control over battery life?

usage control over battery life?

Postby Rupert » Thu Oct 03, 2013 4:15 am

Hi, this looks like a great watch, but 4-5 hours is not long enough battery life for me. Is there a way I can extend the life through how I use the watch? For example, if I am on a long bike ride, can I turn off the screen for long periods, and just bring it back when I am approaching a decision point where I need to look at the maps again?

our reflective screen burns very little power.
The big sucker is the GPS.
We are working on power optimization schemes .

another idea is to use an extra tracking GPS mouse for longterm trips.
if Leikr will support BT there is a way to connect to GPS with low battery consumption.
It used this option with my old sony ANT+ smartphone. Tracking by BT-GPS Mouse Speed & heart beat by ANT+ android demo APP.

Whats your opinion Leikr?

An external GPS module is an idea. however it defeat a bit the purpose of having a GPS integrated.
I believe we should focus on extending the battery life by mean of power optimization schemes.

thanks

For my bicycle trips i always have an external usb-akku for loading lamps, gps, handy, camera on- or offline.
For cycliststourists this should be a option instead using Garmins or so. I like small&light devices

external packs are pretty handy and not a big deal if you plan to cycle for many hrs.
More a matter of priorities on what/when to look into it :)

thanks

But the expirience with my brand new LEIKR show me that when i charge the watch, i couldn't use it.
Isn't it possible to charge the clock in operation mode?

External battery packs are readily available and it only is required to be able to use the device while charging.

thanx Cris!
One solution will be be a handle bar charging adapter for cyclist.
In teh meenwhile i am looking for battery pack with 20mm diameter putting at the handlebar end plugs.
A flat (USB) power cable will put unter the handlebar tape. With powerpacks on both sides i coulds charge my lamp too.
