Battery life far to be enough

Good day,

For quite a while I was satisfied by the battery lifetime (I was exercising between 2 and 3 hours max).
Therefore, now I started hikes of 5 hours ++ and each and every time I could not excess a tracking of more than 3h45mn.

I know that you are working on it but when could we expect an improvment?
Up to know I was pleased enough to deal with the bugs and software issues, but more and more LEIKR is not in accordance with my expectation.
It is sad knowing that I am using the device since November 2013.

Regards.

its a small consolation, but charging whilst logging is possible if you use a USB power pack. I find the inconvenience balanced by the map display, which makes following a route so easy.

Dear both,
we are aware that battery life is one of our weak points and we want to improve it.
Keeping the watch docked when not in use extend the battery life.
Just for the sake of mentioning it: if moving from home to a location to start training, the charger can be plugged into the cigarette lighter of a car with an USB adapter.

thanks
Cris

Dear LEIKR,

I don't know if it is related but yesterday (15/08/14) when turning on, I had a firmware update.
I was, then, able to record the whole 4h30 hiking done just afterward (When initially I was stuck around 3h45).

For all the given tricks (Keep in dock, use of cigaret lighter socket...) sadly they are already implemented to try to have the maximum autonomy.

Please push forward on the battery life improvment. It will be for sure a wrm welcome from all teh community.

Regards.

I had this (undocumented?) software update some days ago. Since then it seems my watch has decreased in batterylife. Today I had a 2:10 hour run, and the watch was down to 1 bar in the indicator. Some months ago it could run for almost 5 consecutive hours.

Dear Fbr and mkhansen,
our recent software updates should not impact the battery life of you devices to the level you are reporting, neither on the plus nor on the minus side. External conditions, such as satellite constellations or temperature should not effect the battery life so significantly either.
It would be interesting to know if you see any other variation over the next runs/hikes when the device is fully charged

thanks
Cris

Hi Cris

Since I didn't have any 4-5 hour workouts in the pipeline, I did some testing in my car driving from Copenhagen to Stockholm for the Half marathon this weekend.

I tried to simulate a long workout, so I kept the watch on and active even on two occasions, where I was inside buildings.

The results brought shame to my previous assumption: I tracked consecutively for 4:27:27, approximately 20 minutes shorter than what I have previously tracked consecutively. I figured the watch may use more battery when it looses gps-signal, because it scans more?

I didn't have any ANT devices attached for the ride, I don't know if the results would have been different, if I had had that?

All in all, battery life seems to be on the same level as before the updates in mention :-)

Morten,
thanks for testing, yes battery life depends on how much "activity" the watch needs to do. In a car, you might have experience some GPS drops and therefore 4.20 min is possible.
On a general note: we are still working on the battery life as we are aware that we are far from what we would desire

Thanks
Cris
